The Lancers impressed in a loss to the nationally-ranked Sailors, 24-26, 27-25, 13-25, 25-20, 15-7.

“Our kids played outstanding,” said Lakewood coach Mike Wadley. “Our game plan worked, it just came to that last set and we didn’t have anything left to give. We gave everything we had.”

Fullerton-bound senior Julia Crawford led with 24 kills and eight digs, while Laura Williams had five kills, as did setter Moni Vivao, who also had 34 assists and 22 digs.

The loss ends the season for Lakewood, while Marymount will face Foothill in the Division 1 quarterfinals on Wednesday.

“It’s sad to lose our four-year starters, I’m really proud of this team,” said Wadley.
