An LBC native, Mike Guardabascio has been covering Long Beach sports professionally for 18 years, with his work published in dozens of Southern California magazines and newspapers. He's won numerous state and national honors for his writing as well as the CIF Southern Section’s Champion For Character Award, and is the author of three books about Long Beach history.

The Long Beach Poly beach volleyball team claimed the first Moore League championship in the sport thanks to a one-loss run through the four-team league this season. The Jackrabbits frosh/soph team wrapped up an undefeated 10-0 football season with a win over Lakewood last week–the first Long Beach team to do so in a decade. Our guys Art O’Neill and John Napalan of All-In Press were there to document the game and we’ve got the photos.
