Cabrillo Jaguars Girls’ Basketball Preview

It’s been an uphill battle so far for Cabrillo and first-year coach Debbie Lambert (above, left), whose Jaguar squad is off to an 0-5 start.

“We’re a work in progress,” said Lambert. “We’re just trying to keep our morale and our head about us, we know this is a rebuilding year.”

The Jags have had some painful losses, including a 103-12 defeat to Oxford Prep, but also cause for optimism.

“Right now we’re trying to build the program and get it established,” said Lambert.

Leading players for Cabrillo so far include junior Sheina Peralta and freshman Kyla Fagali. The Jags’ post players are Naiyah Kuykendall and Priscilla Castillo. The Jaguars are building towards the future with a roster that has only one senior on it.
