Camille Lindsay, Long Beach Poly Cross Country

Long Beach Poly freshman cross country runner Camille Lindsay made a hell of a debut for her high school distance running career. Lindsay was the wire-to-wire leader at the first league meet of the year winning comfortably with a time of 17:49.

Ronan McMahon-Staggs, Long Beach Poly Cross Country

Long Beach Poly senior Ronan McMahon-Staggs is this year’s favorite to win the Moore League individual championship, and he started his campaign off in style at last week’s first league meet. McMahon-Staggs ran the three-mile course at El Dorado with a time of 15:06.

Rylie McGinest, Long Beach Poly Volleyball

Long Beach Poly sophomore Rylie McGinest had a dominant performance for the Jackrabbits against Wilson last week. McGinest had eight kills with no errors on just 11 swings, a hitting percentage of .727. She also had four blocks in the match. Both the kills and blocks were match highs.

Mehki Jordan, Long Beach Poly Football

Long Beach Poly senior Mehki Jordan had a tremendous performance in a first-place Moore League showdown against Wilson. In a game that many assumed would feature a heavy dose of Poly runs, Jordan went 18/27 for 362 yards and five touchdowns to lead Poly to a win.

James Voorhies, Lakewood Football

Lakewood’s James Voorhies led his Lancers to a win over Millikan last week, Lakewood’s first time doing so in three years. Voorhies went 93 yards for a touchdown on his first carry and ended up leading Lakewood to the win with 22 carries for 218 yards in a 26-20 win over the Rams.

Jakob “Texas” Smith, Jordan Football

Jordan’s Jakob “Texas” Smith helped lead the Panthers to their first Moore League win since October of 2016 last week, scoring twice in the second half. Jordan trailed 13-0 at halftime but Smith scored twice to put them up 14-13; Jordan ended up winning their Homecoming game 20-13.
