St. Anthony is on the hunt for their first win of the 2026 season as they head into Week 2. The Saints are hosting Ontario Christian on Friday night, where both teams are currently sitting with an 0-1 record.
Last week, St. Anthony hosted Canyon Springs and suffered a season-opening 20-13 loss. Despite the difficult result, there were some bright spots for the Saints all over the field.
Senior running back Evan Martinez was one of these players with a strong performance in Week 1, earning him Most Valuable Player of the Game. The offense was focused on getting Martinez the ball, and the offensive line played a big role in this ground play.
Freshman Lucky Otine had some big blocks as part of this line, which earned them Offensive Players of the Game.
Quarterback Aiden Jones found sophomore Juice Smith for some scores. Smith earned Special Teams Player of the Game and will be looking to make more of an impact this week against Ontario Christian.
On the defensive side of things, senior Dion Myers was an important player for the Saints, but the team couldn’t mount a comeback in Week 1.
Similarly, Ontario Christian opened the year with a 20-14 loss of their own against Chino. Ontario Christian started off strong with touchdowns in each of the first two quarters, but silence in the last two proved to be too much in the loss.
The two teams are close in rankings and will go head to head tomorrow night. In the Southern Section, the Saints are ranked No. 259 while Ontario Christian is sitting at No. 272. St. Anthony and Ontario Christian have never faced off before, so it is anyone’s game for Friday Night Lights.
