HIGH SCHOOL
Journii Spencer, Wilson Track & Field
The Long Beach Wilson Girls’ Track & Field program won their second straight CIF-SS Division I championship. Journii Spencer was a huge part of this success, winning gold in the triple jump to contribute to the program’s title.
Jaela Brown, Millikan Track & Field
Jaela Brown made history for the Millikan Rams at the CIF-SS Division I Track Finals. Brown captured the gold medal in the 100m, becoming the first girl in Millikan’s history to accomplish this feat.
Clara Adams, Wilson Track & Field
In Wilson’s historic back-to-back win, Clara Adams shined for the Bruins. Adams won two individual titles at the CIF-SS Division I Track Finals, taking gold in the 200m and 400m while also anchoring Wilson’s winning 4×400 relay.
Noah Smith, Long Beach Poly Track & Field
Noah Smith was a huge part of Long Beach Poly’s 4×400 relay win on the boys’ side. The thrilling victory with a time of 3:14.09 helped the Jackrabbits claim third place at the CIF-SS Division I Track Finals.
Lucas Jue, Long Beach Poly Swim
Long Beach Poly senior Lucas Jue wrapped up his decorated high school career with one last championship. Jue swam a time of 4:22.04 to win the 500 Free at CIF State.
Cooper George, Wilson Baseball
Cooper George has been a stud for the Wilson Bruins on the diamond, and he continued shining in their CIF-SS Division 5 opener against Montebello. George pitched six innings in the game, scattering just three hits and no earned runs while racking up 10 strikeouts in the 3-0 win.
Alan Machado, Millikan Baseball
Millikan snuck away with a 2-1 win over South Torrance in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 3 playoffs and Alan Machado was the difference maker in the game. In the fifth inning, Machado hit an RBI single to give his team a 2-1 lead and ultimately won them the contest.
Malakai Pruitt, Long Beach Poly Baseball
Malakai Pruitt shook off the nerves in Long Beach Poly’s CIF-SS Division 5 opener vs. Sunny Hills and settled in to send the Jackrabbits to the second round. Pruitt pitched a complete game for his squad, limiting the visiting Lancers to just three hits and striking out four in the 3-2 victory.
