Cabrillo’s water polo team marked Senior Night with a 9-1 home win over Jordan on Wednesday afternoon.
The Jaguars took an early lead when Arleen Castillo scored within the opening 30 seconds into the contest. The Jaguars added to their lead throughout the first quarter and maintained control of the contest.
Nine minutes into the match, Cabrillo goalkeeper Roselyn Lucindo scored on a full-length throw from her own end of the pool, extending the lead.
Valerie Salas led Cabrillo’s scoring efforts, recording goals in both the second and third quarters. She opened the second quarter with a goal, added another four minutes later and scored again late in the third.
Lucindo later rotated out of the goal and contributed offensively. She scored on a backhand shot late in the third quarter and added another goal shortly after at the 30-minute mark following a faceoff against Jordan captain Melanie Madrid. Lucindo scored Cabrillo’s final goal with one minute remaining.
Jordan was held scoreless through the first three quarters while working through multiple offensive alignments. The Panthers avoided the shutout in the fourth quarter when Paola Mejorado scored following a possession after several earlier attempts.
