Moore League water polo action was back in action on Tuesday as Millikan and Jordan were back in the pool after Winter break.
With Jordan campus under construction Millikan came away with a 17-7 win over the Panthers at Lakewood.
Millikan set the tone early, leaning on the physical play of Maya Porter and the speed of Jessie Reader. Porter controlled space in the middle, forcing constant adjustments from Jordan’s defense, while Reader pushed the pace on counterattacks to create early scoring chances.
Jordan senior center defender Melanie Madrid anchored the defense, matching up with Porter and working closely with goalkeeper Isabella Michel to limit clean looks at the cage. Michel’s communication and Madrid’s physical presence helped slow Millikan’s momentum during the middle quarters, forcing the Rams to work for their goals.
Jordan’s defense improved as the game progressed, with strong communication and team support helping limit Millikan’s scoring opportunities through the middle quarters.
Offensively, Paola Mejorado led the Panthers with four goals, while Madrid added three more. Facing a hard press and another game away from their home pool, Jordan continued to show chemistry and resilience, battling through double teams and turning defensive stops into fast-break opportunities.
Jordan will return to the pool next Tuesday against Lakewood while Millikan will host Cabrillo.
