The562’s high school soccer coverage for the 2025-26 season is sponsored by Long Beach Poly soccer alum Kennedy Justin.

The Lakewood girls’ soccer team opened its Moore League campaign with a big win Tuesday evening as they defeated defending league champion Long Beach Poly 1-0 thanks to a goal from Adrianna Tanaka.

It was a great start for the Lancers after finishing fifth in the league just a season ago. 

Poly will look to regroup in league play when they take on Jordan next Thursday, while Lakewood heads to the west side to take on Cabrillo on Tuesday.
