The562 is thrilled to announce that our coverage of Long Beach Poly Athletics and our Football coverage have been sponsored by current NCAA student-athletes Wendell “WoWo” Moe, Jr. and Tyson Ruffins.
Moe and Ruffins were teammates in the Long Beach Poly football program, leading the Jackrabbits to a CIF-SS championship during the 2021 season. As successful college players at Power 4 programs, both Moe and Ruffins wanted to give back to the current athletes on the football field and at their alma mater.
“We’re both grateful for the role The562 played in our high school careers, and are happy to support their mission of highlighting Long Beach’s athletes,” said Moe and Ruffins in a joint statement. “We’re proud to represent Long Beach Poly and want to make sure future Jackrabbits get the same coverage we got in high school.”
Moe, Jr. graduated in the 2022 class out of Poly, starting his collegiate career at Arizona. He played parts of three seasons with the Wildcats, earning All-Pac-12 honors in 2023. The redshirt junior transferred to the University of Tennessee for the 2025 season, and immediately slotted in as the starting right guard for the Volunteers.
Ruffins graduated from Long Beach Poly in the Class of 2023, and attended the University of Nevada. After two successful seasons with the Wolf Pack, he transferred to Cal prior to the 2025 season. Now a redshirt sophomore, Ruffins is the starting center for the Golden Bears in his first season in Berkeley.
“The562 is incredibly grateful and humbled to receive this support, especially from such recent student-athletes,” said The562’s publisher Andy Kerr. “It’s widely known that Long Beach produces great athletes, but we also have great people–and Tyson and WoWo are no exception. We can’t thank them enough for their support of what we do.”
The sponsorship covers the entire 2025-26 school year, and comes with a generous donation to The562 to help offset the cost of producing our award-winning coverage. The562 Network, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) in the State of California, relying on reader support and sponsorships to remain in business as a nonprofit.
