PREVIEW: Millikan vs. Cabrillo, Football

The562’s coverage of Millikan Athletics for the 2025-26 school year is sponsored by Brian Ramsey and TLD Law.

Moore League play kicks off at Millikan on Friday when the Rams host Cabrillo at 7pm.

Millikan will look much different this Friday after eight transfers were ruled ineligible on Monday, just a week after the Rams were forced to forfeit two wins for using another ineligible player. Still seeking their first technical win on the field, they’ll have a strong chance to get it against Cabrillo.

Freshman quarterback Jonah Tuaniga will be in full command of the Rams’ offense and is set to make the second start of his young career. Tuaniga has been in the mix before his first start last week and has completed over 64% of his passes with 6 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.

Millikan will look to get the ball into the hands of its playmakers, and that starts with pass catching duo Jude Nelson and Landon Ross. Both have more than 25 catches this season, with Ross averaging nearly 100 receiving yards per game and Nelson leading the team with five touchdowns.

Defensively, senior Damian Paz leads Millikan with 43 total tackles this season and over 10 tackles per game. Peyton McCutcheon leads the Rams’ defensive line with 3 sacks while Nelson has 2 this season from off the edge.

Cabrillo sits at 1-3, with its lone win coming against LA Jordan in Week 2. Friday’s matchup with Millikan will be a big test for the Jaguars under first-year coach Malcolm Manuel as they gauge their competitiveness in the Moore League. Last year, Cabrillo managed two touchdowns in a 56-13 loss to the Rams.
