Long Beach Puts 53 Entries Through to CIF-SS Track Finals

The city of Long Beach will be well-represented at next weekend’s CIF Southern Section Track and Field Finals, which will be hosted at Moorpark High on Saturday, May 17. Fifty three Long Beach entries will take the oval and field as they try to bring home individual and team golds.

Long Beach Poly leads the way with 27 entries, backed up by Wilson with 23 entries–remarkable consistency for the two best programs in California as they put up 27 and 24 entries last year, a meet where the Jackrabbits swept the team titles and Wilson then went on to win the girls’ state crown while Poly claimed the boys’.

This year in the CIF-SS Poly is favored to win the boys’ title while Wilson is favored to win the girls, with the Poly girls ranked as their closest competitor.

Long Beach is down a tick from the 58 entries the last two years, mostly due to fewer entries from the non-Poly/Wilson schools, which produced only three entries this year (as opposed to seven last year and 16 the year before).

Below is a list of all the Long Beach prelims entries, with qualifiers for next week’s Finals in bold.
