The Long Beach State Women’s Soccer team ended their Saturday night match up with Sac State in a 2-2 draw. Despite the tough result, the Beach had a big display of grit and fight on the pitch.
After a scoreless first half, both teams came alive in the second half of play. Long Beach found themselves down by a pair of goals with 11 minutes left on the clock, but the team refused to give up.
Defender Nikki Velasco was key in the offensive attack, picking up two assists off her crosses in the final minutes. Velasco’s crosses found Natalie Arnold and Ameera White, who both buried their chances and brought the score to an even 2-2.
The Beach, now 6-2-5 overall, are back in action next week when California Baptist comes to George Allen Field.
