The Millikan Rams are struggling through 2026 — but they’re hoping to turn things around in the second half of season. Millikan is currently sitting with a lopsided 0-5 overall record as they take on a tough Palos Verdes for one last non-league game.
It has been a brutal year for the Rams, who have suffered rough losses against teams like Huntington Beach, Capistrano Valley and Notre Dame Sherman Oaks, where Millikan lost by at least four touchdowns in each game. The Rams have been outscored 198-45 through five games.
However, Millikan’s record isn’t the only part of their season that has been tough. The Rams have been dealt an unlucky hand with injuries to key players like Jonah Tuaniga and Ryan Carter while climbing an uphill battle against a strong non-league slate.
These two are key parts of Millikan’s offense when healthy. But with a program riddled by disfortune, the competition isn’t getting any easier.
The Palos Verdes Sea Kings are coming into the contest against Millikan with an undefeated 5-0 record. Palos Verdes has dominated in their most recent contests, defeating Edison 28-3 before shutting out Banning in a 34-0 win.
With a bye last week, the Sea Kings are entering Friday’s game with fresh legs and energy. Quarterback Ryan Rakowski is leading a strong Palos Verdes offense, who have outscored their opponents 135-55 through five games.
The senior Rakowski is averaging more than 300 yards per game, with more than 200 of those yards coming in the air. Junior Jalen Flowers has been a top target, collecting an average of 73 receiving yards per game, according to MaxPreps.
Other weapons for the Sea Kings offense are juniors Christian Reis and Aaden Brady. Reis has been strong on the ground game, while Brady has totalled up six touchdowns so far.
This will be Millikan’s last contest before they enter Moore League play. The Rams kick off league competition against Lakewood next week, but they’ll have to get past the Palos Verdes Sea Kings this week first. This Friday’s contest will be held at Palos Verdes with a start time set for 7pm.
