The biggest fundraiser of the year is officially here for local nonprofits, with more than 300 organizations participating in Long Beach Gives.
The562 is one of those nonprofits, and we depend on reader donations to remain in business and continue bringing you our game recaps, highlight videos, photo galleries, feature stories, social media content, and more.

Since our founding in 2018, The562 has steadily grown its staff of journalists and freelancers to cover the Long Beach community, but none of that would have been possible without fundraising efforts like Long Beach Gives.
In 2021, we founded our paid student internship program, offering aspiring young journalists the chance to get hands-on experience covering their community. During those five years, we’ve mentored more than 50 student interns, sending them to some of the top journalism programs in the country at schools like Harvard, Northwestern, Cal, USC, Pepperdine, Maryland, Arizona, Long Beach State, and more.
For the last two years, The562 has also held a student photo competition for LBUSD students, offering prizes for the best photos submitted in four distinct categories. The submissions are judged by a panel of The562’s staff, student interns, and professional photographers.
These great programs are only possible with community support, and Long Beach Gives is the perfect time to give back with a tax-deductible donation.
Early giving started on Thursday, Sept. 17 and will be open until Long Beach Gives Day, Sept. 24. CLICK HERE to visit The562’s page and show your support!
