Donnie Johnson, Compton Football
Compton is on a roll with an undefeated 3-0 start to the 2026 season. Donnie Johnson scored the game-winning touchdown with a 25-yard run in their 18-15 comeback win against Bishop Alemany.
Mina Orbiso, Long Beach Poly Girls’ Volleyball
Sophomore setter Mina Orbiso helped lead the Jackrabbits through a strong week of action at the Dave Mohs Tournament. Long Beach Poly secured 3rd place in the Division I tournament, and Mina Orbiso earned All-Tournament honors.
COLLEGE
Sidney Hamaker, LBSU Women’s Volleyball
Long Beach State had a clean 3-0 sweep at the Utah Classic, and their dominance was led by Sidney Hamaker. The sophomore outside hitter led the Beach in kills across all three matches and set a career-high with 20 kills against Utah.
Aurora Schuck, LBSU Soccer
Aurora Schuck has been holding things down for Long Beach State in the net, and this week was no exception. After securing a 2-1 win over Portland, Schuck had a season-high seven saves in the Beach’s most recent 1-1 result vs. Grand Canyon.
