Long Beach Poly and Millikan both won their quarterfinal CIF Southern Section Division 3 quarterfinal games yesterday, setting up a treat for local fans today: the two teams will square off today (a day earlier than the CIF-SS schedule set it) at LBCC at 3pm. The winner will be back at LBCC Saturday at 10:30am in the CIF-SS Division 3 championship against the winner of Canyon and Windward.
Poly won the Division 3 championship last year while Millikan fell to Wilson in the Division 2 final.
The Jackrabbits and Rams split their regular-season meetings and shared the Moore League’s two-seed behind league champion Wilson heading into this year’s playoffs. The Bruins fell in the Division 2 playoffs earlier this week in a 3-2 heartbreak.
Poly defeated Dos Peublos 4-1 in the quarterfinals yesterday to reach today’s semi, while Millikan edged South Torrance 3-2.
We’ll have full coverage of today’s semifinal.
