The562’s coverage of Millikan Athletics for the 2025-26 school year is sponsored by Brian Ramsey and TLD Law.

A shaky top of the first inning proved to be the difference on Wednesday afternoon as the Millikan Rams (3-3) dropped a 4-2 decision against Fountain Valley (3-0) on Bohl Diamond at Blair Field.

The Barons scored all four of their runs in the top of the first, but all were unearned as they benefitted from a key error early in the frame. Millikan’s two pitchers on the day–Maison Crommie and Joaquin Gutierrez–allowed just one base hit and one walk the rest of the game.

Millikan scored twice in the fourth inning, as the rally started with a leadoff double from AJ Nonato and a single from Ethan Briones. They would both score in the inning, first on an RBI single from Jacob Amado and then on a sac fly from Shane Walley.

The Rams outhit the Barons 6-4 but had just one extra-base hit and struck out 13 times against six different pitchers from Fountain Valley.

Millikan returns to action on Friday, back at Blair Field hosting Warren at 6:30 p.m.
