Long Beach State swept Lindenwood in their season opener to open their national championship defense 1-0. The Beach won 25-21, 25-16, 25-20. Long Beach was led by nine kills apiece from Skyler Varga and Alex Kandev.

Diego Perez is a first year psychology major at CSULB. With a year and a half of photography experience, he's looking forward to growing his skills and continuing to develop. He was the winner of the Best Overall Photo category in the inaugural 562 Student Photo competition.
