Wilson softball star Sacha Zalamea participated on USA Softball’s U-18 Women’s All-Star Team last week against Metro Tokyo Softball, in the 2025 USA Softball SoCal x Tokyo Exchange Event. Team USA finished 2-1 through the three game series.
The exchange series was designed to strengthen the connection between the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the upcoming Los Angeles 2028 Games. The two began the event last year in Tokyo before hosting this year’s series at Deanna Manning Stadium in Irvine.
Zalamea was selected alongside 13 other high school softball players from Southern California. The roster was chosen through USA Softball SoCal’s High Performance Program, which identified top athletes from the surrounding areas at the 2025 Region 10 HPP Identifiers in Irvine.
The new honor adds to an already impressive young resume for Zalamea, who’s entering her junior year at Wilson. Earlier this year, she was recognized as one of the top performers at USA Softball’s U16 National Team Selection Event and was named first-team All-Moore League each of the past two seasons.
