The city’s girls’ golf programs kicked off Moore League play on Tuesday.
Millikan teed off against Lakewood at Skylinks for opening day. The Rams are the reigning Moore League champions with a title to defend – and they started on the right foot.
The Rams defeated the Lancers 228-297 in dominant fashion. Millikan was led by senior Hailey Stoskopf, who was a crucial golfer on last year’s championship squad.
After a top five finish in the individual tournament last year, Stoskopf was planning to improve in her senior season. She had a good showing in the first League faceoff, swinging for a round of 42.
Stoskopf’s score was followed by sophomore teammate Jasmine Lim. Lim also finished in the top five of last year’s individual tournament and earned All-League First Team accolades. She finished with a round of 43.
Lakewood was the host for this Moore League match up, and they put up their best on their home course. They were led by team captain and All-League selectee Sydney Adams, who had the Lancers’ lowest score of 50.
The Rams are back in action Sept. 23 when they host Wilson at El Dorado. Lakewood will face off with Cabrillo on Sept. 18 for another day on the range at Skylinks.
