HIGH SCHOOL

Deuce Jefferson, Long Beach Poly Football

Deuce Jefferson was crucial for Poly’s 28-27 comeback win over Tustin. The quarterback was 14 for 23 with 257 yards and 4 TDs.

Mack Cooper, Wilson Football

The senior threw five touchdowns in Wilson’s dominant win against Sunny Hills. The Bruins took their home opener in a 49-21 final score.

Simrin Adams, Wilson Girls’ Volleyball

The Stanford commit racked up 21 kills, 7 aces and 3 blocks in Wilson’s four-set win over Millikan. Five of these kills were key in the start of the second set, fueling the Bruins’ momentum over the next three sets and propelling them to the win.

Holly Ibarra, Millikan Flag Football

Ibarra threw four touchdowns in the Rams’ 24-12 win over the Compton Tarbabes. The junior quarterback led her team on three consecutive scoring drives in the second half that each ended in a passing touchdown to propel Millikan to their first Moore League win.

COLLEGE

Logan King, LBSU Women’s Volleyball

The freshman was named the Big West Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive time. King had an impressive week across three games. Against the No. 19 Bruins, King recorded 18 kills, 7 digs and 5 blocks. When she played in the San Francisco Battle of the Bay, she recorded 11 kills and 11 digs vs. Portland State. In the Santa Clara Mission Classic, she hit .321 with 11 kills and two blocks.

Kailey Supa, LBSU Women’s Soccer

The sophomore notched two goals in the Beach’s return home victory. The 6-0 win made history as it tied both the school record for goals scored and the margin of the victory.

Nina Fife
Nina Fife is a sophomore at Pepperdine University double majoring in Journalism and English with a writing and rhetoric emphasis. She began working with The562 in the inaugural intern class before being hired as their Social Media Director and now Assistant Editor. Nina is a proud Long Beach schools alum who graduated with valedictorian honors.
