The Wilson girls’ cross country squad earned a first-place finish in the Division 1 race at the Dana Hills Invitational over the weekend. The Bruins finished first out of 14 other D1 programs, including the Millikan Rams who checked in 10th.
Senior Nadia Mejia led the way for the Bruins with a fourth-place finish, recording a time of 17:06.90. She was joined in the Top 10 by junior Audrey Buckley, who ran a 17:28.80 to finish in ninth position.
Junior Avery Errecart finished 11th with a time of 17:34.30, senior Ashlei Aguayo was 16th in 17:40.90 and junior Riley Jones placed 19th with a time of 17:44.40. That meant Wilson’s top five finishers all landed in the Top 20 of the 117-runner field.
Wilson scored 51 points as a team, finishing ahead of Del Norte (79 points) and Huntington Beach (106) as the top three schools.
