St. Anthony Girls’ Volleyball Preview

St. Anthony has continued its growth under coach Kassidy Harrington, entering her second year with the Saints. A former LBCC player who played for Misty May-Treanor’s Vikings, Harrington knows how to build a program.

“This season will be a great opportunity for our team to grow,” she said. “I’m proud of how our players have worked hard, supported one another, and continued to improve every day.”

The Saints went 20-12 and claimed the Del Rey League championship last season, and hope to repeat this year with a core contingent of returners. Senior setter Maddie Stranz leads that group.

“We’ve had to switch some positions but we haven’t been affected by that,” said Stranz. “My connections with our outsides are great, and I’m able to set them back row as well.”

The other returners she’ll be working with are Quinn Bell, a junior who can play anywhere along the net, Brooke Jondle, and Makayla Shepherd.

“Our main goal right now is playoffs,” said Stranz. “I just want to see the team working well together and having a great time. Working with them is like the best ever and I just want to see everybody happy.”

Harrington said she knows the Saints will face some tough matches, with the rest of the league gunning for them–but she knows her team is ready for the journey.

“We may face some challenges, but the resilience and commitment these athletes have shown speaks volumes about their character,” she said. “As a coach, I’m excited to see how these experiences will prepare them to be leaders in the next steps of their lives.”
