HIGH SCHOOL

Alex Valente, Long Beach Poly Soccer

Long Beach Poly’s center back defender anchored a Jackrabbit defensive effort that saw them shut out rival Wilson at home to break the “curse” that the home team has had in their recent history. It was Poly’s biggest margin of victory over Wilson in 15+ years.

Raven Ross, Long Beach Poly Wrestling

Raven Ross came up with a last-second comeback victory to give Poly a huge lift in their team victory over Millikan, which came down to several tiebreakers.

Logan Stouvenel, Millikan Wrestling

Millikan’s Logan Stouvenel won his match against Poly last week in the Moore League opener, helping the Rams to a team victory. Millikan is seeking a 14th consecutive league title.

Giovanni Ofoegbue, Long Beach Poly Basketball

Jackrabbits junior Giovanni Ofoegbue had the spotlight on him at the Bosco Winter Classic last week, and helped lead Poly to a fourth-place finish with star player Jovani Ruff sidelined due to injury. Ofoegbue was named to the All-Tournament team.

Jaymari Redmond, Jordan Basketball

Panthers standout Jaymari Redmond had a great performance in leading Jordan to third place in the Buc Pride Classic. Remond averaged 20 points, five assists, five rebounds, and four steals per game.
