HIGH SCHOOL

Mario Rivas, Long Beach Poly Football

Long Beach Poly senior defensive lineman Mario Rivas helped lead the Jackrabbits’ dominant performance in the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs, with a sack, three QB pressures and three tackles.

Dylan Williams, Long Beach Poly Football

Senior Poly linebacker Dylan Williams (an Oregon commit) contributed to Poly’s win on both sides of the ball, with two QB pressures, three tackles, and a first-down catch on third down while playing tight end.

Aharon Villegas-Resendiz, Cabrillo Water Polo

Cabrillo captain Aharon Villegas-Resendiz scored six goals for the Jaguars in their second-round win in the playoffs, sending the Jaguars to the quarterfinals in their home pool.

Beto Salazar, Cabrillo Water Polo

Junior goalie Beto Salazar had a huge day in the cage for Cabrillo in the Division 5 quarterfinals. He racked up 17 saves in the Jags’ win over Segerstrom, which put them into the semifinals.

Jojo Apisala, St. Anthony Football

Jojo Apisala had two touchdowns for St. Anthony in their playoff opener, piling up 129 yards and also scoring the game-winning touchdown.

Jason Parra, Millikan Cross Country

Millikan senior Jason Parra made history for the Rams last week at the Moore League finals. He set a league record with a 14:30 three-mile time at Heartwell Park, and he became the first four-time league champ since 1991.

Nadia Mejia, Millikan Cross Country

Millikan sophomore Nadia Mejia made it a Rams individual title sweep, as she won her second league meet of the year with a time of 17:37, just 17 seconds off the league record time.

COLLEGE

Kameron Bacon, Long Beach State Volleyball

Kameron Bacon posted nine total blocks to average 1.50 blocks per set as she helped lead Long Beach State to a pair of sweeps over CSUN and Cal State Bakersfield. Bacon’s solid defense at the net kept both teams off balance as they combined to hit just .093 on the week.
