PREVIEW: Moore League Cross Country Finals

The562’s cross country and track & field coverage is sponsored by an anonymous donation, in appreciation of Coach Ron Allice.

An exciting Moore League cross country season resumes and concludes on Wednesday at Heartwell Park, where the 2023 league champions will be decided.

Millikan senior Jason Parra is looking to make history with a fourth individual league title in as many years, and he hopes he won’t be celebrating alone this time. The Millikan boys have won each of the first two cluster meets, putting them on track for their first league championship since 1992, which would also end a 16-year title run for Long Beach Poly.

On the girls’ side, there should be another exciting battle between a pair of 10th graders. Millikan’s Nadia Mejia won at El Dorado, but Poly’s Avery Peck cruised to a win at Signal Hill. The Jackrabbits appear poised for a third consecutive team victory, but which individual runner will bring home the gold?

Lower level races will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, with boys’ varsity scheduled for a 4:30 start and girls’ varsity going at 5 p.m.

Live race results will be provided via MileSplit, and The562 will be there for full coverage of the meet!
