The562’s coverage of local golf in the 2023-24 school year has once again been sponsored by a donation from Dan & Desiree Gooch. The longtime golf enthusiasts have supported The562’s coverage in each of the past three seasons.
“We couldn’t ask for a better sponsor of our golf coverage than Dan & Desiree,” said The562’s publisher Andy Kerr. “They’re both extremely passionate about the game of golf, as well as the importance of local sports coverage. We’re grateful for their continued support over the years.”
In 2018, Dan & Desiree established the Marie C. Gooch Endowed Scholarship at Long Beach State, which continues to provide scholarships for members of the LBSU women’s golf program. Prior to that, they helped lead a vital fundraising effort for the men’s program when it was slated to be cut from the athletic department.
Their sponsorship with The562 helps provide more coverage of local golf, while also aiding The562’s long-term viability as a nonprofit news outlet.
