Tyler Hendrickson was born and raised in Long Beach, and started covering sports in his hometown in 2010. After five years as a sportswriter, Tyler joined the athletic department at Long Beach State University in 2015. He spent more than four years in the athletic communications department, working primarily with the Dirtbags baseball program. Tyler also co-authored of The History of Long Beach Poly: Scholars & Champions.
While Poly and Wilson were knocked out of opening round matches on Tuesday, Millikan (Division 3) and Avalon (Division 9) both advanced to the second round with wins. Millikan girls’ basketball’s strong season came to an end on the road in the CIF Southern Section Division 2AA quarterfinals, falling to Orange Lutheran, 62-44. Millikan wraps up the year at 26-4. The Rams hadn’t lost to a team not named Long Beach Poly since Dec. 1.
