This week, all of The562’s coverage is sponsored by Long Beach Gives. Visit LongBeachGives.org to find your cause and support local nonprofits! Donations will be accepted through Sept. 21.

The562 is thrilled to once again take part in our community’s annual day of giving, which helps support Long Beach’s nonprofits and charities. Long Beach Gives is a community-focused fundraising initiative that encourages donations for worthy causes in the community.

For the third year in a row, The562 has been selected as a participating nonprofit along with hundreds of others throughout Long Beach.

This is the perfect time to make a tax-deductible donations to organizations like The562, which help enrich the lives of Long Beach’s community members. Early giving is currently underway, and donations will be accepted until Thursday, September 14.

The562.org is a community funded nonprofit media outlet that covers sports and education in the city of Long Beach with free articles, video highlights, photo galleries and more. Founders JJ Fiddler and Mike Guardabascio have been covering sports in Long Beach since 2007, and frequently visit local high schools and colleges to discuss media and work with aspiring journalists.

Tyler Hendrickson
Tyler Hendrickson was born and raised in Long Beach, and started covering sports in his hometown in 2010. After five years as a sportswriter, Tyler joined the athletic department at Long Beach State University in 2015. He spent more than four years in the athletic communications department, working primarily with the Dirtbags baseball program. Tyler also co-authored of The History of Long Beach Poly: Scholars & Champions.
