Preview: Jordan at La Mirada, Football

Looking to remain the last undefeated team in Long Beach, the Jordan Panthers (3-0) will drive down the 91 to face the La Mirada Matadores (0-3) on Friday night at 7 p.m. Building on last year’s success, the Panthers look to have a second straight season with a 4-0 start.

The Panthers are aiming to continue their potent offense and lockdown defense. Despite last week’s shortened contest, the Panthers have averaged a score of 32-10, in their favor, out-scoring their opponents 97-30.

La Mirada is going through some growing pains with their new head coach, Lucas Mealy, who was hired in April 2023. Mealy was the former Orange High School’s offensive coordinator, who last year finished 11-3, won their league title, and were CIF Southern Section Division 6 runner-ups.

Kickoff is Sept. 8 at 7 P.M. at Goodman Stadium, La Mirada High School.
