PREVIEW: St. Anthony vs. Jefferson, Football

After decades of waiting and dreaming about a new football stadium at Clark Field, the day has finally arrived. The Saints will take the field on their “field of dreams” this evening for a season and stadium-opening game against Jefferson at 7 p.m.

The562 will be on hand for live updates, article, video, photos and more.

“We’re very excited because we used to practice on a small field, the baseball field actually,” said senior quarterback Adrian Perez of the new facility. “Now we’re able to practice on a true field where we can execute the way we’re supposed to, so it’s a lot easier for us right now.”

Tonight’s game will be the first true home game for the Saints since the Spring of 2021, as they’ve spent the last two years borrowing other teams’ fields to host games.

The Saints will christen their new stadium with a very winnable game against Jefferson, an LA City Section team currently ranked a couple hundred spots below the Saints in CalPreps’ statewide rankings.

The Saints will look for a healthy Perez and Elijah Lolesio-Pua to get things going for them offensively, while Raymond Gomez will lead a hungry playmaking defense.

The Saints will travel to West Torrance next week before returning to Clark Field to host Dominguez Sep. 1.
