There was no slowing down for Long Beach State women’s soccer on Thursday night as Elysia Laramie, Julia Moore and Summer Laskey scored to give the Beach a 3-0 victory over Cal State Bakersfield at George Allen Field.

It was a complete-game performance from the Beach after a disappointing tie on Sunday against UC Riverside.

“We’re playing our best soccer of the year,” Long Beach State coach Mauricio Ingrassia said. “Especially against Riverside, I thought we played really, really well and we just shot ourselved in the foot with a really big gun.”

LBSU (2-4-4, 1-0-1 Big West) dominated from the start and took a 1-0 lead after Maddy Perez connected with Elysia Laramie on a corner kick that she finished with a header in the 22nd minute.

“When you know Maddy is serving a corner, you know it’s going to be a good ball,” Laramie said. “I just did my best to get myself free and got my head on it.”

LBSU took a 1-0 lead into the break and came out of the gates flying in the second half as they kept the Roadrunners on their heels the entire half.

Julia Moore gave LBSU a 2-0 lead five minutes into the second half after she connected on a contested shot.

LBSU’s back line controlled CSUB’s attack allowing six shots in the game and only two shots on goal.

Laskey closed the door on the Roadrunners when she beat a couple defenders and scored in the 88th minute.

The Beach will be back in action when they wrap up their 4-game homestand against Cal State Fullerton next Thursday.

“We’re still fine-tuning the team because we have so many new players,” Ingrassia said about getting in the win column. “But it’s very important, performance is important because that’s what gets you to the result.”
