HIGH SCHOOL

Taylor Johnson, Long Beach Poly Track

Long Beach Poly sophomore Taylor Johnson had a big weekend at the Trabuco Hills Invitational, earning Female Athlete of the Meet honors after winning the 200, finishing fourth in the 100, and helping her team to a win in the 4×100.

Jordan Washington, Jordan Track

Jordan sophomore Jordan Washington led his team to a historic win over Poly last week. Washington ran on both relays for the Panthers (they won both) and stood out in the 100 and 200 as well.

Gannon De La Cruz, Millikan Baseball

Gannon De La Cruz came up big for the Rams in a win over Poly last week. He had two doubles, a single, a walk, 2 RBI and a run scored for Millikan to secure the victory.

Anthony Eyanson, Lakewood Baseball

Anthony Eyanson hit a new level for Lakewood with 12 strikeouts on the mound in his complete game shutout of Wilson. He also had two RBIs & two runs scored offensively as the Lancers beat Wilson, 8-0.

Cat Calzada, Lakewood Softball

Lakewood catcher Cat Calzada had a great game behind the plate in a win over Wilson last week; she also drove in the first run for her team and scored the game-winning run in extra innings.

COLLEGE

Samantha Fowler, Long Beach State Softball

Long Beach State’s Samantha Fowler was named the Big West Pitcher of the Week after coming out the victor in two fantastic pitcher’s duels last weekend against CSUN; she went 2-0 and had a complete-game shutout in the first game, then allowed just one run in nine innings in her second appearance.
