Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week and thanks to Naples Rib Company for their sponsorship.

HIGH SCHOOL

Jermonie Billingsly, Wilson Water Polo

Wilson’s Jermonie Billingsly had a career day in a big win over Millikan to secure the Moore League championship. Billingsly had eight goals to lead the Bruins to a 19-6 win.

Camryn Cruz, Wilson Soccer

If the Wilson girls’ soccer team is able to secure a Moore League championship this year, Camryn Cruz will be one of the heroes of the year. Her late-game screamer to win against Millikan last week creates this week’s title tilt.

Alex Obi, Lakewood Basketball

Lakewood’s Alex Obi had a team-high 18 points, including the game-winning bucket, and had a blocked shot on the final possession to preserve the Lancers’ 71-70 win in J-Town. The win puts Lakewood in sole possession of second place ahead of a title tilt this week with Poly.

COLLEGE

Joel Murray, Long Beach State Basketball

Joel Murray averaged 16.0 points per game and made eight assists and seven steals as Men’s Basketball extended their winning streak to six games with a pair of road wins last week.
