HIGH SCHOOL

Nala Williams, Long Beach Poly Basketball

The Long Beach Poly girls’ basketball game won three games in 26 hours last weekend including a unique league doubleheader against Millikan and Wilson on Saturday. Nala Williams’ 27 points saved the day for Poly in an OT win over the Rams.

Christian Watson, Long Beach Poly Basketball

Christian Watson led Poly in scoring in three of their four Moore League wins last week, including a 28-point performance in an overtime win over Lakewood. Watson and the Jackrabbits remain in first place in the Moore League after a marathon week.

Zainab Hakeem, Lakewood Wrestling

Lakewood’s Zainab Hakeem enters Moore League girls’ wrestling finals week with an undefeated 15-0 record, including a pair of tournament victories at Tustin and Corona del Mar.

Saiheron Preciado-Meza, Lakewood Wrestling

Saiheron Preciado-Meza joins her teammate in entering finals week undefeated with a 19-0 overall record and wins at Tustin, CDM, and the John Glenn tourney.

COLLEGE

Crystal Washington, Long Beach State Track

Crystal Washington set a new Long Beach State record for indoor Triple Jump. The senior went 40’ 1.25” to beat the record set back in 2010 and take home the victory at the Air Force Invitational.
