For The Fridge: TB SoCal Quakes Win Baseball Tournament

The TB SoCal Quakes youth baseball team won the XDS Octoberfest Tournament at Vista Hermosa Sports Park in San Clemente earlier this month. This group of Long Beach kids played together in the Whaley PONY league and beat top teams from Huntington Beach, Irvine, Simi Valley and Seaside.

TB SoCal committed six errors in its opening loss, but used good pitching and defense to get back on track before outscore their opponents 17-8 in three games on the final day. The team finished the tournament with a 1.96 ERA.

Mack Cooper pitched a four-hit complete game in the first win of the tournament, Kai Bratton pitched complete game shutout in the following game and then Xavi Nunez and Daunte Bell pitched the combined shutout in the next game.

Bratton had two doubles and nine RBIs in the tournament and Benny Howard went five for eight with four runs while Jack Champlin led the team defensively with no errors at shortstop.
