HIGH SCHOOL

Emi Sverduk, Wilson Golf

Wilson’s Emi Sverduk is this year’s Moore League girls champion. She shot a final round of 71 for a total of 147. It’s Sverduk’s second Moore League title in three years.

Katie Knarr, Millikan Softball

Millikan freshman Katie Knarr came up clutch for Millikan in a Moore League title tilt with Lakewood. She had three RBIs including a game-winning two-run double in the top of the seventh inning.

Trinity Salcedo, Long Beach Poly Swimming

Long Beach Poly junior Trinity Salcedo helped lead the Jackrabbits to a fifth consecutive Moore League championship last week. Salcedo swam on the 200 medley relay win and won the 100 fly and 200 IM.

Myles Patton, Millikan Baseball

Millikan junior phenom Myles Patton was sensational in a big win over Wilson last week, pitching 5.2 innings with 14 of his 17 recorded outs coming via strikeout. 

Diego Gutierrez, Lakewood Baseball

Lakewood senior and CSUN signee Diego Gutierrez went crazy in Lakewood’s 16-0 blowout of Poly last week. Gutierrez pitched two scoreless innings on the mound, and hit a two-run homerun out of Blair Field, a rare feat.

Kyle Johnson, Long Beach Poly Lacrosse

Poly senior goalie Kyle Johnson was critical in leading the Jackrabbits to win the first-ever boys’ lacrosse Moore League championship. Johnson had 17 saves against Millikan and racked up 15 saves against Wilson last week. 

Nathan Cheav, Long Beach Poly Volleyball

Poly senior setter Nathan Cheav led the Jackrabbits to a pair of playoff wins last week. Cheav had 34 assists and two aces in the first round and 38 assists and 10 digs in the second round.

Hank Rivers, Wilson Swimming

Wilson’s Hank Rivers, a Cal commit, stamped his name all over the Moore League record books as he led the Bruins to a 48th consecutive league title last weekend. He broke records in the 200 individual medley, the 100 breaststroke, and the 400 freestyle relay.

Kalaya Buggs, Long Beach Poly Basketball

Poly’s Swiss Army knife of a senior, Kalaya Buggs, did it all in the Jackrabbits’ Moore League title-clinching win last week at Wilson. She had 17 points, six rebounds, and five assists in the victory.
