CIF Volleyball: Wilson, Poly Sweep Into Quarterfinals

It was another great showing for Moore League boys’ volleyball on Thursday evening, as league champion Wilson and second-seeded Long Beach Poly both swept their second-round CIF-SS Division 3 opponents. The Bruins and Jackrabbits will both travel for road matches in the quarterfinals on Wednesday next week, and would both host semifinals on Saturday should they advance.

Wilson defeated Windward on the road 25-19, 25-8, 25-15 and will travel to Westlake next week. The Bruins have still yet to lose a set this season. They were led by Payne Lounsbery’s 18 kills, Leo Pravednikov’s 14 kills, and a huge 42 assist night from setter Bryce Lowery.

Poly took down visiting Damien 25-15, 25-17, 25-14. The Jackrabbits will travel to Anaheim Canyon next week. They were led by Robert Jones, who had 11 kills, eight aces and four blocks, and setter Nathan Cheav, who had 34 assists, four digs, and two aces.
