Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week and thanks to Naples Rib Company for their sponsorship!

Solomon Jones, Long Beach Poly Basketball

Poly star Peyton Watson averaged close to 25 points per game last week in three critical wins over Lakewood, Wilson, and Millikan. But it was big man Solomon Jones who stepped up in support for the Jackrabbits, dropping 16.3 points per game and 10 rebounds per game for the Rabbits.

Lily Buggs, Long Beach Poly Basketball

With standout Kalaya Buggs out due to injury, Poly’s other players stepped up last week. Junior Lily Buggs had 24 points and 16 rebounds against Lakewood, then dropped 20 and 10 on Wilson, and scored 10 points against Millikan.

Zoe Seaboch, Wilson Water Polo

Wilson goalie Zoe Seaboch was a star in the cage for Wilson last week. The Bruins beat Long Beach Poly 19-2, and Seaboch stifled the Jackrabbits for the duration of the game, with seven saves in goal.

Carlos Martinez, Cabrillo Soccer

Cabrillo sophomore Carlos Martinez helped the Jaguars to a critical win over Wilson last week. The game was tied 1-1 late, when Martinez calmly buried the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute to keep the Jaguars towards the top of the league standings.

Luke Brown, Long Beach Poly Soccer

Long Beach Poly sophomore Luke Brown was the standout for the Jackrabbits in a critical 3-1 win over Millikan to end the first round of league play. The win puts Poly in a tie for first place, and came thanks to Brown’s goal and assist.
