Top 10 For 2020: Long Beach State Sharks?

The mascot musical chairs at Long Beach State could finally come to an end this year, but its official arrival will still have supporters complaining and comparing. The LBSU students voted to adopt “Sharks” as the new mascot of the school last May, and that caused athletic director Andy Fee to clarify a few things.

“We will not be rebranding uniforms, logos, or any other marks related to the athletic department,” he tweeted. “We continue to be ‘The Beach!’ The mascot used to be Prospector Pete, but we weren’t the Long Beach State Prospectors… The Shark mascot will be running around at games getting people pumped up (this year) and I’m sure at commencement 2020 the shark will jump on stage next to Jane and there’s the new mascot.”
