HIGH SCHOOL

Michael Bruner, Wilson Football

Wilson receiver Michael Bruner was sensational in the Bruins’ win over San jacinto. He only had four catches, but three of them were for touchdowns as his connection with Wilson QB Ryan Pettway produced 193 yards of offense as well as the three scores. Two of the touchdowns were 70+ yards.

Jaishawn Smith, Compton Football

Senior Jaishawn Smith is a big part of why Compton is 2-0 for the second consecutive year, thanks to a pair of great games. Smith had two rushing touchdowns and a pick-six in Compton’s first game, and had three rushing touchdowns and an interception in a win over Santa Monica this week.

Jordan Wofford, Jordan Football

Senior linebacker Jordan Wofford set the tone for the Panthers in a blowout running-clock win over Rancho Dominguez last week. Wofford’s hard-hitting style helped him notch two sacks as part of five tackles for a loss. Wofford also had an interception, which he returned for a touchdown.

COLLEGE

Allison Martinez, Long Beach State Volleyball

Allison Martinez came off the bench for the Beach at the Georgia Tech Invitational and led the LBSU offense with a total of 51 kills (4.25 per set) on .339 hitting en route to being named to the All-Tournament Team. The sophomore outside hitter collected a career-high 24 kills in a five-set win over UNC Asheville.
