Congratulations to all our Athletes of the Week and thanks to Naples Rib Company for their sponsorship.

HIGH SCHOOL

Jaylon Morgan, Jordan Football

Jordan was hoping for a good start to the season and they got it thanks in large part to senior Jaylon Morgan, who led the Panthers’ offense with three touchdowns in a 26-7 win over Kennedy on the road. The Panthers will be passing more this year, and Morgan is perfect for that offense as a guy who can catch it and run it.

Roger McMillen, Cabrillo Football

Cabrillo senior captain Roger McMillan knew his team had only won four games in the last two seasons combined, and he wanted to make sure his senior season started off right. McMillan had a highlight-reel touchdown catch as well as a touchdown run and a two-point conversion to lead Cabrillo to a 20-0 win.

Adonia Faumuina, Long Beach Poly Volleyball

Long Beach Poly’s super sophomore has been ranked as one of the top seven players in her class by Volleyball Magazine, and she showed her skill and range in leading the Jackrabbits to a win at the Molten Tournament, leading the team in kills and finishing second in digs. Faumuina earned MVP honors at the Molten Tournament for her efforts.

Virginia Soto, Avalon Volleyball

Avalon is off to a 12-0 start on the year thanks in part to Virgnia Soto, who won MVP honors at the Liberty Christian Tournament last week after averaging 7 kills, 10 assists, 8.3 digs, and 2.4 aces per match in 10 sweep victories for the Lancers. Soto also pushed close to a triple double in a win over Milken Academy with 13 kills, 18 assists, and 9 digs.
