The562.org’s Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to this week’s Athletes of the Week and thanks to Naples Rib Company for their sponsorship.

Arnold Giron, Cabrillo Soccer

Arnold Giron is only a sophomore, but he’s already attained legendary status at Cabrillo as one of the school’s greatest athletes ever. Last Saturday on the road at Riverside Poly he scored three goals in a 3-1 win to put the Jaguars in their first-ever CIF championship.

Jonny Riquer, Cabrillo Soccer

Jonny Riquer was a big part of the reason Cabrillo got to the semifinals in the first place. He scored a goal in a 4-1 win over Fountain Valley and was a critical part of the defense that held FV without a shot on goal in the second half.

Ashlee Lewis, Long Beach Poly Basketball

Long Beach Poly’s girls’ basketball team made the semifinals where they fell on the road to King. Their win in the quarterfinals came in part thanks to Ashlee Lewis’ big night, as she put up 12 points and 16 rebounds in a win over Harvard-Westlake.

Kelsey Adams, Long Beach Poly Soccer

Long Beach Poly sophomore Kelsey Adams had a huge game in the quarterfinals for Poly against Ventura. In the span of 13 minute she scored two goals in what ended up being a 2-1 Jackrabbit victory.
