Rob Diaz, Millikan Basketball
Millikan clinched a playoff spot with a win over Wilson last week, overcoming Jackson Barnhill’s 33 points for the Bruins. The win came in large part thanks to freshman guard Rob Diaz, who had 19 points, including five 3-pointers.
Tara Johnson, Long Beach Poly Water Polo
Long Beach Poly beat Millikan in the pool last week, 10-6, to take control of second place in the Moore League. The Jackrabbits were led by Tara Johnson, who had four goals, as well as Kate Sarantos and Aristiano Modica, who each had three goals.
Lesley Garcia, Millikan Basketball
Millikan’s girls’ basketball team had a big win over Wilson last week to force this week’s Moore League championship game at Long Beach Poly. Junior Lesley Garcia led the Rams in the win over the Bruins, scoring 15 points with five 3-pointers.
Kristin Berry, Wilson Soccer
Allanah Cutler put Poly ahead 1-0 in a big showdown with Wilson last week, but it was the Bruins’ Kristin Berry who equalized in the 53rd minute to force a 1-1 tie, which kept the Moore League standings tight headed into the final week of the season.
