TONIGHT: Long Beach State Volleyball Raises NCAA Banner, Hosts USC

The Walter Pyramid will play host to a special celebration tonight, as the Long Beach State men’s volleyball team hoists its 2018 NCAA championship banner in a brief ceremony before their home opener against USC at 7 p.m.

Don’t ask the team’s coaches or players to get too worked up about the festivities, however.

“Yeah I’m excited, mostly excited because it’s our next match and our first real match at home,” said TJ DeFalco.

“It’s going to be great to play in front of our fans,” said setter Josh Tuaniga.

Head coach Alan Knipe acknowledged it would be a nice moment for the fans to see the proof of last year’s hard work raised forever in the rafters.

“Really though we just want to get out there and play,” he said.

The top-ranked 49ers did away with UCLA in straight sets last weekend, but could face a game Trojans team that’s fresh off an upset over UC Irvine. We’ll have live updates from the match.
