HIGH SCHOOL

Will Frankenfeld, Long Beach Poly Cross Country

Long Beach Poly senior Will Frankenfeld did something a Long Beach runner hadn’t done since 2000, winning last weekend’s CIF Southern Section Division 1 cross country championship. Frankenfeld’s time of 14:35 was eight seconds faster than the next closest competitor, and makes him one of the top runners at this week’s State meet.

COLLEGE

Jace Bass, LBCC Basketball

Vikings freshman Jace Bass helped lead LBCC to a 5-1 record this year with three strong games. He put up 21 points and nine assists in a win over American River, then followed that up with a 14-point, five-assist, three-steal game against Ventura. Bass and the Vikings fell short against Cerritos, as he scored 11 points.

Sierra Davis, LBCC Volleyball

The LBCC women’s volleyball team improved to 21-3 last week and more importantly earned a share of their second consecutive conference championship with a five-set thrilling win over El Camino Real. Sierra Davis had 21 kills on .354 hitting in the win, and added five digs and three blocks to lead LBCC.

Megan Kruidhof, Long Beach State Volleyball

It wasn’t the season that Long Beach State hoped for as they finished 16-13 overall and sixth place in the Big West, but senior Megan Kruidhof went out on a high note. The Lakewood product led the team to a season-ending sweep of CSUN on Saturday with 11 kills, seven digs, two blocks, and an ace.
