Aliya Mesihovich, Wilson Cross Country

For the second time this year, Wilson junior Aliya Mehisovich led a Moore League cross country meet wire to wire and ended up with a big first-place finish. Mehisovich won the individual gold at the Moore League’s Signal Hill meet last week, finishing in 20:03, 22 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.

Will Frankenfeld, Poly Cross Country

Poly senior Will Frankenfeld has already proven himself one of the fastest cross country runners in Long Beach history. Frankenfeld easily won the Moore League’s Signal Hill meet last week with a time of 16:26, 19 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Frankenfeld is the reigning league champion.

Liz Schuster, Poly Volleyball

Cal State Fullerton commit Liz Schuster was a stud for Long Beach Poly last week in a surprise sweep of Lakewood, giving the Jackrabbits their first unshared Moore League championship in six years. Schuster had 32 assists, seven kills, eight digs, three blocks, and two aces in the three-set win.

Sebastian Kronberger, Lakewood Football

Lancers senior Sebastian Kronberger showed up for his team in a big way last Saturday, in the lightning-postponed second portion of a game against Compton. In just seventeen minutes of game time, Kronberger piled up 114 yards and two touchdowns as he helped boost Lakewood to a 34-7 win that keeps them very much in the playoff hunt.
