LBSU (5-4-1) took a 2-0 lead 31 minutes into the game on goals by Ashley Gonzales and Katie Pingle, but LMU (2-6-3) answered with headers from Shelby Cormier and Melissa Lewis to pull even.

The Beach outshot LMU 22-13, and goalkeeper Imani McDonald finished with six saves for LBSU. She made three stops in the final minutes of overtime.

“That’s a game that got away from us with every missed opportunity that we had,” LBSU coach Mauricio Ingrassia said. “The ones you don’t put into the net trickle into your own net. At least we kept the tie, thanks to Imani, and didn’t lose. Games like that can easily slip away.”

Gonzales’ goal in the 6th minute is the 33rd of her career, which ties her for the most in LBSU history.

LBSU starts Big West Conference play on Thursday at Fullerton.
