LBSU Roundup: Softball Sweeps, Dirtbags Drop Series

The Long Beach State softball team’s pair of gems from Cielo Meza lifted them to a sweep of Hawaii.

Meza set a school record with 17 strikeouts in game one against the Rainbow Wahine and then followed it up the next day with a no-hitter. The No. 18-ranked 49ers won game three to move to 3-0 in the Big West, tied with perennial power Fullerton for first place.

The Dirtbags scored 24 runs in a blowout of Fresno State in game one of their road series, but dropped both of the next two games to lose the series.
